Do You Get Together to Talk?

Yes, we hold regular meetings where we talk quite a bit: meetings for business and meetings for learning.  At times we also convene for worship sharing on a particular concern.

Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business is typically held at 9:30 a.m. on the second Sunday of each month.  In these meetings, we engage in a long-established Quaker tradition of decision making.  Everyone is encouraged to attend because this is a committee of the whole. Participants are expected to speak their minds on the business at hand and to listen attentively to others who do so. A decision is reached when the Clerk states the sense of the meeting to the satisfaction of those present.

Meetings for Learning are held on the 3rd and 4th Sundays of each month at 10 a.m.  (See the schedule in the right-hand column of this page.)  Topics vary from month to month. Sometimes one of us leads a discussion on Quaker beliefs and practices, sometimes we discuss a topic of current interest, or we may host a guest speaker.  Again, everyone is welcome to attend.

We also hold regular potlucks usually on the first Sunday of each month. Most of the time they will be at a Friend’s home at 6:00 in the evening.  Several times a year, we hold a luncheon potluck at the meeting house directly following meeting for worship.
